The Ambassador of Israel to Ghana, His Excellency Roey Gilad, on Thursday, 23 July 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS), Major General Frederick Dankyi Ntiri, at the College's premises in Burma Camp, Accra.
The visit aimed to familiarise the Ambassador with the College's activities and strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between Ghana and Israel, particularly on defence cooperation, professional military education and capacity building.
Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Gilad underscored the enduring partnership between Ghana and Israel, highlighting decades of collaboration in defence and human resource development. He noted that Israel's National Defence College, established in the 1960s, has accumulated extensive experience in strategic-level military education and remains committed to deepening cooperation with Ghana through knowledge-sharing, professional exchanges and institutional partnerships.
The Ambassador further stated that the eventual opening of a Defence Attaché's office for Ghana in Tel Aviv would create additional opportunities for dialogue, exchange programmes and broader collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the Commandant of NCDS, Major General Frederick Dankyi Ntiri, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the College's commitment to strengthening defence and academic relations with Israel. He observed that collaboration in areas such as exchange programmes, sponsorship opportunities and the sharing of professional expertise would make a significant contribution to the continued growth and development of the College.
Major General Ntiri also presented an overview of the National College of Defence Studies, explaining that since its establishment in 2023, the institution has remained dedicated to developing strategic leaders through research, seminars and an adult-learning approach. He noted that the College has successfully graduated 45 participants from its first two cohorts, all of whom were awarded a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies (MSS) degree and conferred the title of Fellow of the National College of Defence Studies (fncds).
The Commandant highlighted that the College required increased stakeholder support, sustainable funding and the establishment of a permanent campus to accommodate its expanding academic and operational activities.
As a symbol of appreciation and goodwill, Major General Ntiri presented a commemorative plaque to Ambassador Roey Gilad in recognition of his visit and support for strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
